Shakers for expert talent

Build your career as a UX/UI Designer

Projects where the experience of your product is yours: who gets interviewed, which flow gets redesigned first and which rule of the design system gets defended. Shakers connects you with teams that arrive with a live product, not with a list of screens.

Going independent with UX/UI in Spain usually starts with two doubts: what to sell exactly (a Figma link?) and where. Hiring search is filled by marketplaces and personal websites, and the platforms of always serve everything as 'diseñador UX'.

This is not a study route: it is what gets delivered on a real engagement, what you must prove and where your territory ends.

“Shakers adds a lot of value because it connects you with sharper projects, already filtered and better defined. “Life as a contractor has a lot going on and it is not always easy. We like to focus on what we are good at, but you also have to manage clients, invoicing and go looking for work. For me, Shakers has been key because it does that prospecting for me, it gives the client confidence from the very first moment, and it lets us be part of a community with real enthusiasm.”

The decisions a UX/UI Designer makes every week

A UX/UI Designer is the professional of the digital product who researches users and designs their experience and interface: interviews and usability tests, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes in Figma, design systems and handoff to development, with accessibility and responsive as transversals. Their boundary: the complete product decision belongs to the Product Designer; the layout in code belongs to the frontend developer; graphic design, the web and illustration are other families of design.

You decide which user gets interviewed before redesigning, what enters the first prototype and what waits for the next iteration, and which rule of the design system gets defended when the business asks for a new screen. You also decide what the flow rejects. The product belongs to the business; the experience that holds it up is yours.

What a UX/UI Designer delivers on a Shakers project

At Shakers

The engagement arrives with the pain

The checkout that does not convert, the onboarding nobody finishes or the design system that falls apart: a product problem, not a list of screens.

Delivery

Design that can be built

Research told, flows and wireframes, navigable prototype in Figma and handoff with tokens: what engineering implements without guessing anything.

Stack

Figma is the workshop of the craft

Figma as the canvas, Adobe XD and Sketch as reading, Zeplin at handoff and usability tests to validate before building.

What we ask

Counted processes, not screens

Having carried research and interface on live products and knowing how to tell it: what got researched, what got prototyped and what survived the first release.

Judgement

What gets researched and what gets assumed

Choosing between the pending interview and the existing data, between full prototype and short iteration. Sometimes not asking wins: knowing it is the craft.

Boundary

Where your engagement ends

You research and design the interface: the production layout is the frontend's, the product decision the Product Designer's. If it crosses, you say so.

Frequently asked questions

Any other questions? Write to us and we will reply.

What does a UX/UI Designer do on a real project?
They research and design the experience and the interface: interviews and usability tests, wireframes, prototypes in Figma, design system and handoff to development. One week touches onboarding, another the redesign of a flow that does not convert.
Can you make a living from contract UX/UI design in Spain?
Yes, and employment sends the signal: 373 active ads in Spain mention UX/UI, Figma appears in 380 and LinkedIn counts 231 and 533 vacancies depending on the spelling (Shakers market analysis, n=31,957, September 2026). The by-project route, in Spanish, is the missing step.
How much does a contract UX/UI Designer earn?
The mechanism marks it: interface only or research and interface, pages and flows of the engagement, whether the design system comes in, the usability tests, the seniority and the continuity. At Shakers you agree the budget per project before accepting.
Marketplace, own website or talent route?
The platforms of always mix the craft into the 'diseñador UX' category and the personal website leaves you alone with the buyer. The talent route certifies your level, brings engagements with defined scope and shares the commercial side with you.
What do you study to become a UX/UI Designer?
There is no single degree: the titles of the market come from design, communication, bootcamps and even development. What the engagement asks about is processes: what you researched, what you decided and what survived real users.
How do you join Shakers as a certified UX/UI Designer?
You create your profile, pass the certification process and enter the collective: only 4 percent make it. Then you choose which design projects you collaborate on.
The daily shape of the craft

The interview that changes the roadmap, the wireframe that gets tested with five users before building, the design system engineering thanks you for at every release and the screen that finally gets understood. Fewer portfolio mockups and more product the business holds up every month.

The tools are the craft

373 active tech job ads in Spain mention UX/UI and 380 mention Figma, with literal titles such as 'WordPress UI/UX Designer & Layout Specialist' at Omega CRM, 'UX Engineer - FX Trading' at Qaracter or 'Senior UX Designer' at Nacar (Shakers market analysis, n=31,957, September 2026). The market titles hybrids: the compound is the name of the craft.

How people get here

Almost nobody arrives through a single degree: they come from design, from communication, from a bootcamp or from development that learned to listen to users. What the engagement asks is something else: counted processes, not loose screens. The portfolio that opens doors is the one that explains decisions.

What this role is not

You do not build production HTML/CSS: that is the frontend developer's (reading it for the handoff, yes). You are not the Product Designer of the complete cycle: their boundary is discovery, metrics and business. And graphic design, the corporate website or illustration are other families of design, with demand of their own and pages of their own.

Who you share a design project with

A digital product is not held up by one person alone: whoever builds it, whoever measures it and whoever integrates it cross your design path.

Handoff

Frontend Developer

You design in Figma, they build: components, accessibility and performance. The clean handoff, with tokens and specifications, is the boundary you both sign.

View profile →

Hybrid

WordPress Developer

'WordPress UI/UX Designer & Layout Specialist' is a literal title of the Spanish market: the hybrid already exists. When the engagement is a website on WordPress, they share the project.

View profile →

Data

Data Analyst

Serious CRO measures before redesigning: A/B tests and analytics that prioritise which screen is next. The data points at the problem; your design brings the solution.

View profile →

Stores

Ecommerce Developer

Checkout, templates and purchase experience: when the digital product is a store, design and construction take turns on the same engagement.

View profile →

Product

Full Stack Developer

The one who materialises the design system end to end, logic and front in the same hands. You share the product; the Figma file is your territory.

Boundaries between these roles are agreed per project: the job title doesn't set them.
