Shakers for expert talent

Build your career as an SAP FI/CO Consultant

Projects where the financial module is yours: which close gets ordered, which migration to S/4HANA gets planned and who answers when the reporting asks for data. Shakers connects you with teams that arrive with a live SAP, not with a list of modules.

Going independent with SAP FI/CO in Spain usually starts inside a consultancy: the employment of the role lives in implementation firms and near the nearshore, with the language as an entry requirement. The Spanish independent route with a module identity almost does not exist.

This is not a study route: it is what gets configured on a real brief, what you must prove and where your territory ends.

“Shakers adds a lot of value because it connects you with sharper projects, already filtered and better defined. “Life as a contractor has a lot going on and it is not always easy. We like to focus on what we are good at, but you also have to manage clients, invoicing and go looking for work. The decisions an SAP FI/CO Consultant makes every week

An SAP FI/CO Consultant is the SAP functional consultant of the financial area: they implement and configure the FI modules (financial accounting: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, assets, treasury) and CO (controlling: costs, CO-PA, reporting) on implementation projects, ECC to S/4HANA migrations and AMS support, without writing code. Their craft reaches the financial close, reporting with Group Reporting or BPC and the Order-to-Cash and Purchase-to-Pay processes. Their boundary: whoever writes ABAP or RICEF belongs to the ABAP Developer; the purchasing and logistics modules (MM) and sales (SD) are neighbouring worlds this row channels.

You decide what gets configured and what stays standard, how the month closes without surprises and what goes into the migration to S/4HANA before the date rules. You also decide what the module rejects: an unbalanced close does not leave the development environment. The system belongs to the business; the financial module that holds it is yours.

What an SAP FI/CO Consultant delivers on a Shakers project

At Shakers

The brief arrives with the module

The close that slips, the ECC to S/4HANA migration with a date or the reporting the committee asks for: a financial problem, not a list of transactions.

Delivery

A module that holds itself up

Documented configuration, close tested on quality and reporting that answers: what you deliver, the business maintains when the milestone closes.

Stack

The compound is the craft

FI and CO together, S/4HANA as the migration destination, Group Reporting and BPC on the reporting, DRC on e-invoicing and advanced Excel across the board.

What we ask

Closes counted, not courses

Having held FI/CO modules in production and knowing how to tell them: what you implemented, what you migrated and what survived the first audited close.

Judgement

What gets configured and what stays standard

Choosing between standard configuration and the consultancy's development by maintenance cost, not habit. Sometimes the standard wins, and defending it.

Boundary

Where your brief ends

You configure the module without writing code: ABAP is the ABAP Developer's and MM and SD are neighbours. If it asks for code or another module, you say so.

Frequently asked questions

Any other questions? Write to us and we will reply.

What does an SAP FI/CO Consultant do on a real project?
They configure the financial area without code: accounting (FI), controlling (CO), monthly closes, reporting with Group Reporting or BPC and Order-to-Cash processes. One week touches the migration to S/4HANA, another the AMS support of the close.
Can you make a living from SAP FI/CO in Spain?
Yes, and employment sends the signal: 424 active ads mention 'sap fi' and the FICO compound titles here and in the international market alike (n=31,557). Spain is a nearshore hub of the role: selling it by project, in Spanish, without the consultancy filter.
How much does an SAP FI/CO Consultant earn by project?
Scope and the mechanism set it: seniority, implementation versus support, length of the close, languages of the project and whether the migration to S/4HANA comes in. At Shakers you agree the budget per project before accepting.
Implementation consultancy or independent by project?
The employment of the role lives in consultancies and large accounts, with languages as the nearshore entry requirement. The independent route lets you choose project, scope and module: you collaborate directly with the business that holds the SAP.
And when the S/4HANA migrations end?
The role rotates, it does not die: the offer already mixes migration, reporting with Group Reporting and BPC, e-invoicing with SAP DRC and AMS support of the close. Senior specialisation of the module is the way, not an exit from the market.
How do you join Shakers as a certified SAP FI/CO Consultant?
You create your profile, pass the certification process and enter the collective: only 4 percent make it. Then you choose which SAP projects you collaborate on.
The daily shape of the craft

The close that lands on time, the e-invoicing sheet tested on the quality environment and the reporting document the CFO asks for the committee. Fewer endless implementation processes, more module the business holds up every month.

The tools are the craft

424 active tech job ads in Spain mention 'sap fi', with literal titles such as 'Consultor/a de SAP FI' or 'SAP FICO Consultant' (Shakers market analysis, n=31,557, September 2026). The employment lives in consultancies and large accounts, and Spain exports the role as a nearshore hub: the independent-by-project route in Spanish with a module identity almost does not exist.

How people get here

Almost nobody arrives by accident: people come from implementation in a consultancy, from AMS support or from finance after learning to configure the system. The FI/CO compound is the norm: the global market titles FICO and nobody asks for CO on its own.

What this role is not

You do not write ABAP nor administer the technical base: the code is the ABAP Developer's. And if the engagement asks for purchasing and logistics (MM) or sales (SD), it gets declared at kickoff: neighbouring modules, not your module.

Who you share an SAP project with

A financial module is not held up by one person alone: whoever writes the system's code, whoever lives the other ERP and whoever connects outside the SAP cross your path.

Code

ABAP Developer

You configure the module, they write the system: RICEF, interfaces and Fiori. Big SAP projects cross both rows, and the code rule is written by theirs.

View profile →

ERP

Dynamics 365 Developer

The other enterprise ERP of the ecosystem: when the financial core lives on Microsoft, the project goes through their row. Both worlds share the enterprise client.

View profile →

Platform

ServiceNow Developer

Much of enterprise support lives on IT service platforms: when the engagement is development on ServiceNow and not on the ERP, it goes to their repository.

View profile →

Integration

Backend Developer

When integration weighs more than the module: APIs outside the ERP, queues and server logic with no SAP in between go to their repository.

View profile →

Width

Full Stack Developer

When the project brings web, product and data from the same trade alongside the ERP, the cross-sectional layer of the system is theirs.

View profile →

Boundaries between these roles are agreed per project: the job title doesn't set them.
