Azure Developer: what this role brings to your project

An Azure Developer builds applications on Microsoft Azure: they migrate the .NET services that still run on-premise, design serverless functions in Azure Functions and connect identities, data and deployments with the services of Microsoft's cloud.

Their identity is the ecosystem: .NET, C# and Entra ID. They are not a DevOps who installs Azure nor an architect who designs it: they program inside it.

Why work with Shakers

The advantages of adding this profile with Shakers

Your .NET finds its place in the cloud

Applications already running on .NET deploy to Azure without being rewritten: the plan decides what migrates, what gets modernised and what stays.

Serverless with Azure Functions

Azure Functions for what executes and switches off: you pay for execution, not idle servers, and the function ships covered by tests.

Identities properly closed

Entra ID configured with real roles and permissions: who gets in, with what and for how long, without inherited shared accounts.

Subscription cost under control

Every resource tagged and owned: the monthly bill is explained per project, not as one global surprise.

The full Microsoft ecosystem

From Azure DevOps to SQL and Cosmos DB: the services your company already buys, used by someone who knows them by heart.

Capacity without growing headcount

An Azure Developer by project, no hiring process: certified talent that joins with your subscription and repository.

Tell us your project
What is the difference between an Azure Developer and a DevOps Engineer?
The Azure Developer builds the application inside the Microsoft ecosystem; DevOps automates the path to production. On Azure projects they cross paths daily and the boundary is agreed at kickoff.
How much does an Azure Developer cost?
Scope sets it: which applications migrate, which functions get built and which integrations exist. At Shakers the budget closes per project before kickoff.
Is Azure DevOps the same as an Azure developer?
No. Azure DevOps is Microsoft's tool suite (repos, pipelines, boards). The Azure Developer is the person programming on the cloud; the suite is one of their tools.
Is it worth migrating an old .NET app to Azure?
It depends what holds the business. An honest inventory says so in days: what wins by migrating, what breaks and what is better rewritten. That diagnosis is the first deliverable.
Can an Azure Developer work remotely?
Almost everything: the subscription and the code live in the cloud. Only the odd on-premise deployment or session asks for presence.
Do I need an Azure Developer or a Cloud Architect?
If the decision is which cloud and how to structure it, the architect. If the cloud is decided and the problem is building inside it, the Azure Developer. Many projects need them in that order.
What gets delivered in the first weeks

The inventory of what already runs in your subscription, the migration plan for the applications that hurt and the first serverless function in production with its deployment pipeline.

The cloud the market mentions most

5,180 active tech job ads in Spain mention Azure, one in six of the corpus, according to Shakers' market analysis (n=30,508, September 2026). Microsoft is the inherited cloud of the Spanish enterprise: that is where the work is.

Where the Azure Developer ends

They do not design the multi-cloud platform nor automate the deployment pipeline: they build the application inside Azure. If the problem is the code that runs in the cloud, it is theirs.

A team by project, not a vacancy

The brief arrives with the legacy system or the function that will not start. Scope closes before kickoff and the subscription stays documented.

DevOps Engineer

Their pipeline deploys what your Azure Developer builds: the automation of the path, with no cloud identity.

AWS DevOps Engineer

The same craft in the Amazon ecosystem: the page that comes in when your estate is AWS rather than Azure.

View profile →

Cloud Architect

Decides whether Azure is the right cloud and how to structure it: the decisions your developer executes afterwards.

View profile →

Backend Developer

The one writing the services later deployed to Azure: the .NET half of the path starts here.
